Wednesday Appointment

Yesterday Bryan took Seth to his Outpatient appointment.  They changed his PICC line dressing, his rash is basically gone from that area now. He had a reaction to the skin sanitizing (disinfecting, cleansing or whatever it's called 😅) product which I mentioned in a previous blog. The nurse thought an alcohol free skin cleaner would work but then decided to go the next stage up until the rash is completely gone.  Thankful that she made that choice to go above and beyond what he may need just to be sure. Once the rash is gone they'll try the alcohol free wipes.

Bryan said the appointment was about an hour so that's great! There's always a chance that he may need a blood transfusion again in which case he has to just sit there for 3 hours.  So we are very thankful he didn't need that, also still not on any regular daily medications, just Vitamin D.  They also removed the rest of the tape that he had over his stitches from his biopsy.  It's a little tender when he twists his body, but that is partly because he has no tape or anything holding that area as extra support he's been used to.  This will just take time to heal.

Bryan was also told that we need to force him a little more to drink water, get up out of bed, and go to school (for short amounts of time, not a whole day).  It is very common that he'll just want to relax but he needs to get up and moving, not just for his physical health but for his mental health also.  He was told the first couple days after chemo is basically sleep days but after that he needs to get up, even if it's just to relax on the couch. He just needs to not spend too much time in his room, he needs to be around us to keep any possible depression away.

This is good for us as parents to know because we naturally just want to let Seth do whatever he wants right now. We don't know how he feels mentally or physically without him telling us, so being told what we need to do is great.  We appreciate the doctors and nurses honesty about what we need to do to help Seth in any way that we possibly can.

Today the plan is to drop off Seth for Physics class and lunch time at school and pick him up when he gets tired.  Also thankful we live less than 15 minutes from school. Praise God♡
